What's the best way to celebrate a first birthday? I don't have to tell you- Luxe Cake Smashes have been swarming the internet with insatiable cuteness for a number of years now. With every session being unique, it's hard not to fall in love with these!

Step 1: At your first appointment in the Canfield studio, we plan everything out. Your theme, colors, what to wear, what to bring, how to prep.
Step 2: Show up to your session, where an amazing cake from Kim's Confections awaits you.
Session Day- Phase 1: I always start the session off slow with some timeless portraits that won't go out of style. This also gives your little one time to warm up to me, and get comfortable in the studio.
The rocking chair is always a big hit!
Did you know the studio is loaded with all kinds of unique and fun props? Come take a peek in the shooting room on your next visit! This airplane is just adorable for little boys!
Session Day- Phase 2: It's time to get out the cake! Jackson was so quick to dive in, I almost missed the cake being intact!
Sometimes those first tastes can be questionable for a baby who's never had sweets. But no worries- Jackson's parents followed my prep instructions which not only made this session flawless, but made for a super fun day for the birthday boy!

Session Day- Phase 3: Clean up time! At the end of the session, a bubble bath clean up is in order!
Step 3: When your images are ready, you will come back to the studio for the big reveal.
I can't promise you won't smudge your mascara (there's a reason I always have tissues nearby). Sometimes we forget how big of a milestone this is, or we realize how much our little ones grow in that first year, or maybe seeing those BIG happy smiles reminds you of how great you are doing as parents- whatever the case may be, reveal day tends to be quite emotional.
Next, it's time to decide how you would like to display and enjoy them in your home. This collage print is a really beautiful way to enjoy your favorite images, and it's a big hit with the cake smash sessions!
